Admitting Erectile Dysfunction

Some more erectile dysfunction facts were recently revealed by Relate the sexual advisory organization. They say that young black males who are keen to maintain their image will be more unlikely to get professional help for erectile dysfunction. The research was revealed near to the newly formed National Impotence Day, which has been set on the 14th Feb, the same day as Valentine’s Day.

Relate said that in the studies that they conducted thirty percent of males said sexual dysfunction affected the relationship with their partner. It may be the case that erectile dysfunction is more common among blacks as they get certain diseases more often like diabetes that can cause erectile dysfunction.

Doctors say that erectile dysfunction as a side effect if diabetes is often forgotten about, and that it can sometimes be the more serious and worrying problem of being a diabetic. However the nerve damage which causes erectile dysfunction in diabetics can be easily repaired with good diabetes treatment and a special diabetic diet.Relate say that there is still alot of ED caused by performance anxiety especially among young black men. The older black men are less concerned about seeing doctors regarding impotence.

The Sexual Dysfunction Association said that regardless of race, young males were unlikely to confront their erectile problems as they were embarrassed and humiliated by the condition. Erectile dysfunction in younger males is very rare and not a subject that is spoken about with their peers, hence they tend to know next to nothing about the causes and how to prevent and cure it.

Lifestyle can be a major cause of ED. For example heavy smoking now may cause ED in the future, and while a few drinks may make you more confident and feel good about yourself you may regret the drinks when it is time to perform in the bedroom. Sometime the erectile dysfunction can be the result of a psycho-sexual issue and not related to physical health. The SDA said roughly a third of all calls it received came from young males.

Psycho-sexual problems occur for a number of reasons. Factors such as guilt, stress, performance anxiety cause ED too. If someone can maintain an erection say when waking in the morning, but is unable to make love with his partner, it is likely that he has some emotional and maybe guilt issues that he needs to discuss. A man also worries that he is not up to scratch when he starts a new relationship. If he thinks about this too much it could cause erectile dysfunction and this is a vicious circle as more anxiety is cause by the ED.
