Hematuria can have several causes, depending on a patient. The most probable causes include BPH (Benign prostatic Hyperplasia), presence of stones in kidney, consumption of medications like rifampine, phenytoin and quinine, blockages in the urinary tract, sexually transmitted diseases, and viral infections in the urinary tract. The diseases and disorders that can cause Hematuria include sickle cell anemia, von Hippel-Landau disease and chronic inflammatory disorder of connective tissue.
Type 2 diabetes is often referred to as the adult onset diabetes. There is actually a third type of diabetes however it only affects pregnant women. Gestational diabetes is a condition wherein women who were once diagnosed with diabetes would have a high glucose level because of their pregnancy. This type of diabetes would then subside after as couple of days after the operation.
Diagnosis is often prompted with the onset of the symptoms. Patients often undergo a diabetes screening test, the particulars of which often vary according to circumstances and local policy. Some may be made to undergo random glucose testing, fasting glucose and insulin, or glucose two hours after 75g of glucose. Sometimes, doctors diagnose the disease through a formal glucose tolerance test.
Weight lose is also apparent because of breakdown in the storage of protein and fat which produces the glucose and alternative fuel (ketones) in the liver. Other signs include increased appetite (polyphagia), cataracts, recurrent infections and exercise intolerance. If there is an excessive production of ketones in the liver, ketoacidosis occurs making the animal very sick.
