Obesity:
Obesity is a severe problem facing many people worldwide and it is a chronic condition that is very difficult to treat. Everybody whose BMI ( Body Mass Index ) is more than 40, trying to lose weight as overweight leads to many health disorders. Many conventional procedures are being followed to reduce the weight. These conventional methods may not work for the persons having BMI is more than 40. In such cases, alternate methods like weight loss surgery are preferred. After we consume food, it moves down to the stomach, where a concentrated acid helps the digestive process. In the process of digestion, the content in the stomach moves to the first segment of small intestine, where bile and pancreatic juices speedup the digestion. Maximum quantity of iron and calcium, we eat is absorbed in the first segment of small intestine. Other two segments of small intestine completes the absorption of all calories and nutrients. The food content which cannot be digested in the small intestine are stored in the large intestine and eliminated.

In the weight loss surgery, some portion of stomach or small intestine is removed, so that the intake of food can be limited or absorption of calories and nutrients are limited.
